Useful Websites and Additional Reading

Campaign Live is website I have found very useful when it comes to advertisement.

http://www.campaignlive.co.uk/go/home/

It has all kinds of information on it about recent campaigns and advertisements, which is all very important for someone wanting to get into advertising!

Another website I have recently come across and found very useful is Advertising Age.

http://adage.com/special-reports/theadvertisingcentury/110

Full of lots of articles on recent events affecting the digital age of marketing, again all the information featured on the website has been very interesting and actually quite helpful for me to have read through.
It's important to keep up to date with all the latest technologies involved in marketing because they play a key role in any advertising campaign, technology also affects how far an advertising campaign can be taken in today's society.

It also talks about global news and includes relative blogs and columnists, which are all good additional reading materials for studying marketing and advertisement.

Target Audiences, important?

So I would love to know how a target audience is decided for a particular product or service.
Advertising for a product involves marketing, but in order to market you must first decide on an audience.
Deciding on a target audience is one of the most important marketing factors, if the wrong target audience is decided then the product or service will not sell well.

You must first narrow your target audience down, for example to an age range or a gender.

If someone is trying to create a new children's television show for example they may take into consideration a specific child age range so it could be targeting 10-16 years or age or 2-9 years of age. This will then depict what television programmes they show, or what time they air until.

In the night garden is aimed at a younger age group and therefore is shown early in the morning on CBeebies, which is a channel broadcast specifically at children up to the age of about seven.

Icarly is shown on Nickelodeon, a channel aimed at children up to the age of about sixteen. It uses real people and the people in the show are around the same age as the traget audience which makes then automatically more relate-able to the audience and therefore this makes easy viewing, it is a comical show that sometimes targets real life situations although they try to go about it in a slightly less serious way it does try to prepare young teens for situations they may have to encounter at some point in their life.

A target audience is very important to anything a business decides to do and is a main factor that decides how much profit or loss a company will make.

New, 'The mad bad Ad show'

'The Mad Bad Ad Show'coming soon to channel 4, which I will definitely be having a watch of.
I hope that it could possibly show the creative flare behind creating an advertisement, and all the challenges that comes with marketing a new idea or product.

Good advertising for this show, they have used comedian presenters, which means it will attract more younger people to watch it, in the hope that it provides entertainment as well as information.

Chuck Brymer

Watching this interview really helped me to gain an understanding of what goes into the creations of this company and how they have to think about everything they put into what they create for everyone they work for.
It has also helped me to listen to it from a CEO's point of view, because he has helped me to understand the thought process behind being in control of such a successful company.

ethical practice in a chosen market sector

I believe that there is relevant ethical practice within this advertising company that I have been looking at.
DDB Worldwide communications group, internationally known as DDB, created a new fresh way of thinking, they created a fun theory and I think that they have been able to create a better way of life for people through this theory.
For example, turning stairs in to a piano, so people would be more likely to take the stairs, which results in more exercise and a more healthy lifestyle.
Another example is when they created something called the speed lottery, which was basically a speed camera but if you were caught going over the speed limit then you would get a fine, and if you were going at the correct speed you would be put into a lottery with money from the speeding cars, this obviously makes people want to slow down and drive safer, making the surrounding roads safer for children.
And I believe this is ethical due to it effecting how people can live life better.

They also support campaigns for Greenpeace, helping them create adverts, and they are also a high believer in self expression and have created campaigns for that, such as musical changing rooms, which was an idea created due to the fact that youths are very categorised by fashion and music.

How to make a sexy car advert ...

I love this advert .. why?? Because it is telling the truth, have you seen a car advert that isn't trying to be sexy? No, and this advert tells you exactly what they put into one to try and make it look so good and it is all true.
Car adverts do try to be sexy, to entice people by creating the idea in their heads that this car is the ultimate thing that they need, I cant look at a car advert any more and take it seriously after watching this one, it's taking the mick out of something that people who have been creating these car adverts have actually been taking very seriously ... but I mean it has worked on most of us lets be honest! You must have seen a car on an advert with water dripping down its shiny finish, and thought wow ... now that's a car that will help my social life! In reality though the car its self isn't going to make anyone more sexy .. sorry to disappoint everyone!
